Carrom: learn through an example

Read the aim of Carrom, then make your first move. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Look at what changes after your first action. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Practice with a purpose

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Refer to the controls when needed.

What you need to achieve

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

The steps to play

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Input guidance

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A closer look at one example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Take a moment to compare.

A common point of confusion

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
